MYTH-HOW MERRILL CAME TO BE

Le Mars was once called Le Merrill. Le Merrill was split up into two sections: Le Mars and Merrill. All the foxes lived in the bad part of town. All the Birds lived in the nice part of town. The foxes were jealous that the birds had all the food and water in their area so the foxes would constantly steal from the eagles even though the eagles said they would share. The eagles were tired of the foxes always stealing their things. One day, the eagles flew over the fox’s part of town and each of the birds grabbed a piece of the land and broke it into two parts. They flew the land seven miles north and placed it there. After a couple months, the eagles realized how harsh the punishment was and gave them a Casey’s gas station. This is the story how Merrill came to be.

IN RESPONSE

In my myth I believe that the "creator" is actually an alien leader, and he his calling other aliens with the music he plays. This story comes from the Gros Ventres Indians, from eastern North America. This myth is about the Creator; who did not like the way the people were living so he sent a giant turtle down to the bottom of the ocean to get earth in order to make a new earth. This story would be shared at any day celebrating the creation of their tribe.

AL: FAVORITE BOOK

By far the best book I have ever read is The Hunger Games. I do not consider myself much of a reader, so because I was able to read all of the book and didn't want to put it down, shows how good it was. I liked the plot behind the book, it was really different than anything else that I have heard of. There was hardly ever a dull moment in the book and I encourage anyone who hasn't read the book to follow the link and read it for yourself.

ABOUT ME

My name is Kendall Candor, I am a senior at Le Mars Community High School. I am involved in Baseball, Football, and Track. My favorite sport at LCHS is baseball. I have played baseball for as long as I can remember and I plan on continuing my baseball career in college. I do not know what college I will attend or what I will major.

Outside of school and sports I belong to a family of 5: My father Todd, my mother Lyn, my two brothers Tyler and Keaton. I have taught myself to play guitar and I have been playing for 4 years now. I have 4 guitars, which I believe is too many and I am trying to sell most of them. I consider myself a social person and spend a lot of my time with my friends.
